Welcome to Laura at Prickly Pear: Where Salon Life Meets Real Life

If we haven’t met yet, hi, I’m Laura! I’m the owner of Prickly Pear Salon and a stylist who’s spent 15 years behind the chair testing, trying, and sometimes tossing a lot of tools, products, and routines. Somewhere along the way, I realized the same things that help me thrive as a salon owner also spill into the rest of my life: what I wear, what I buy for my house, and how I stay sane while running a business.

This blog is my way of sharing all of that, not in a “perfect influencer” kind of way, but in a real stylist, real life, kinda way. I also wanted a place outside of the salon to share my personal favorite items, from home must haves to pet products, and to talk openly about the challenges and lessons I’ve learned as a salon owner.

What You’ll Find Here

  • Salon Owner Tips & Leadership
I’ll give you the real scoop on what it’s like to own and grow a salon: the wins, the “wish I’d known” moments, and the behind the scenes of building a team.

  • Stylist-Approved Favorites
Hair tools, styling products, everyday beauty, even the random but life & time-saving things I swear by at home (yes, including my pet must haves).

  • Fashion That Works in Real Life
Think: shoes you can actually stand in all day, outfits that work both behind the chair and out to dinner, plus the occasional luxury find I can’t gatekeep.

  • Tips & Tricks
Little hacks that make salon life and everyday life easier. If I’ve tried it, tested it, and still use it, you’ll see it here.

About Those Links

Some of what I share will be affiliate links, meaning I may earn a small commission if you decide to shop through them. But here’s the thing: these are truly the products I use and love. If I wouldn’t recommend it to a guest in my chair, it’s not making it onto this blog.

Final Note

At the end of the day, I want this space to feel like a conversation, the kind you’d have with your stylist while sipping a seltzer and flipping through inspo pics. Pull up a chair, dig into the posts that speak to you, and pin the ones you’ll want later.

And if you’re new here, welcome. You’re in good company!

💌 xo, Laura
